sylcmyk is a musical experiment influenced by video games, smooth jazz, groovy beats & the colors of the rainbow!
It's the moniker of Sylvester Draggon Jr, a classical pianist & composer from New York City who spent his childhood playing Sonic 3, Pokémon, watching Toonami & practicing Chopin.
He taught myself how to play the piano when he was 4, then spent a large chunk of my childhood listening to Scriabin, Liszt, Rachmaninoff & other homies alike.
In his teens he became infatuated with rhythm games like DDR, beatmania IIDX & pop’n music. In 2006, he created the sylcmyk moniker & began producing music influenced by things like the NES, Gameboy & Sega Genesis...for fun.
He went to Talent Unlimited, an itsy-bitsy performing arts high school in NYC & graduated from Brooklyn’s City Tech with a degree in Communication Design.
Although he's performed at awesome venues like Webster Hall & Babycastles, he'd prefer play piano exclusively at home.
In his free time he enjoys browsing through the ancient arts of the MET & traversing the High Line when in New York but currently resides in Kyoto, Japan.
